Are you one of the many people who have been skeptical of the green movement? Do you want to know more about environmentally friendly practices before you commit to following any of them? Do you wish you could find some realistic explanations of why it is so important to go green? If so, read on!

There are several good reasons that the green movement of the last few decades has really begun to pick up steam, instead of being forgotten as just another fad. First, the world’s population is increasing exponentially, but the world’s resources are the same as they have always been. The only way to make up for this alarming discrepancy is to learn to use finite resources more efficiently and effectively – to use them in greener ways.

Another reason that it is important to go green is so that you can keep up with the latest technologies. Besides protecting the Earth and the future of your children and grandchildren, there are also personal reasons to go green. The best research is being done on green products and technology, so if you want to have the best of the best, you will have to look into all of those new environmentally friendly new things!

Everyone has an impact on the Earth. The carbon footprint is a person’s impact on the climate and ecosystem of the earth. There are many products that will reduce your carbon footprint.

Appliances can be purchased with an energy star rating so that they reduce the amount of energy you use.
You can buy light bulbs that are low energy. They last fifteen times longer and use 20 less energy. The best kind to buy is CFL light bulbs, however LED is also energy efficient.

If a vehicle uses diesel it can use bio diesel which is made from vegetable oil and will reduce your footprint.
Purchase a water filter for your tap water if yours is not safe to drink. This will prevent the purchase of bottled water which produces a high amount of garbage which increases your footprint.

If possible, grow your own produce. If not, purchase produce that is grown locally instead of shipped in.
Proper insulation of the home will help to reduce energy use because your heater will not have to turn on as often in the winter and the air conditioner will not have to be used as much during the summer months. Also insulating your water heater will make it more energy efficient.

The most important thing is to always think about what you are doing, and figure out ways to reduce your carbon footprint.

These are just a few of the celebrities who live green. Ed Begley Jr. is perhaps the biggest green celebrity. He rides a bicycle and recycles just everything he uses, collects rainwater and has a two bedroom solar panel home. Ed also drives a hybrid and supports many green causes.

Another top green celebrity is Leonardo DiCaprio. He founded the Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation which supports various eco-friendly causes. His home in the Hollywood Hills has solar panels and his apartment in New York City is a green building. Leonardo also drives a Prius among other green cars and refuses to fly on private jets. He always flies commercial.

Daryl Hannah lives totally off the grid. Her entire Rocky Mountains home is solar powered, and she collects rain water. In 2006, she was arrested for trying to keep a walnut tree from being chopped down.

Sheryl Crow is another green celebrity and is the founder of the Green Music Group which is committed to getting the music industry involved with environmental issues. Crow also has an eco-friendly denim collection.

This is a short list of the green celebrities in the forefront, but there are many more that live green such as Cameron Diaz, Natalie Portman, Adrian Grenier and Brad Pitt.

The environmentally friendly movement has captured mainstream attention over the past decade. As more consumers hold green practices in high regard, more companies are making the change to attract these Eco-friendly consumers. through changing the manufacturing processes for their products, to implementing new packaging that is biodegradable, there are many unique ways that companies are making the shift. Below are some of the most popular Eco-friendly companies.

Nokia

Nokia is one of the first companies to make the shift from PVC based plastics to more Eco-friendly materials.I was looking for more information and found it here. PVC, better known as polyvinyl chloride, is known to give off toxic gases over-time that is both bad for the people who are around it, as well as the environment in general.

Sony

Sony has drastically changed the way they manufacture their products. They have implemented new Eco-friendly methods that reduce carbon emissions in their facilities and have reduced the amount of natural resources they consume on an annual basis.

Unilever

Unilever is a top manufacturer of household cleaners and cosmetics. They have set the bar for providing consumers with natural products over products manufactured with artificial materials. Due to this fact, more companies are turning their focus to producing cleaners and cosmetics that are not only safer for human use, but better for the environment as well.
